I have been meaning to share this experience from a long time, and all of a sudden, I pulled out my camera to capture my backyard.
In the last seven months, I have taken special care to keep flowering plants in my backyard. I have also attempted to grow my own veggies for self consumption. Maybe this is just the beginning.
I planted lilies, some six varieties of rose (deep red, pink, yellow, white, baby pink and rose, three varieties of hibiscus, (sandalwood, white and the traditional red), apart from Champaka, also called as Shenbagam in Tamil. In mild sandalwood yellow, the aroma of this flower can take you to a trance state, its so therapeutic.

After about seven or eight months, the flowers started blooming, much to my envy of neighbours 🙂
The rose plants grew in great speed and I have taken care of them like my own children. From a small leaf sprout, to a bud, to the flower blooming or the first fruit emerging from the plant, every moment has been special for me.
I also planted brinjals and other vegetables like spinach, radish, etc.
Here is a brinjal from my backyard:
Some fruits:
Pomegranate
Chikkoo
And everyday I walk around to check my plants, water and nurture them, I watch little butterflies pop out and fly, sometimes hovering around me.
Sometimes turquoise coloured jewels bugs strut around the small purple brinjal flowers.
More about my backyard insects and birds after I document them.
